The team are really getting warmed up to the new methods deployed by the coaches. New games are being introduced at training that allow the children to make the right decisions. Each game has different objectives, addressing certain situations the children may find themselves in when playing a match.

The second half of the season will demonstrate whether the training sessions are starting to pay dividends!

Under 11 phylosophy

Too soon to tell, but if Saturday's match is anything to go by, the new coaching methodology being applied already seems to be paying dividends.

A really good team performance, supported by a 4-2 victory, demostrates we are going in the right direction.

Well done to all the players.

Blip

OK, so this week things didn't pan out quite a s well as I'd hoped for. Firstly, I didn't even make the game, due to a bout of 'man flu', this was the real McCoy though. Then i had a relapse after hearing that we'd lost 8-1. Still, always one to look on the bright side, we drew the second half 1-1!

The Snowman cometh

No training this week due to the adverse weather conditions - two inches of snow and the whole place comes to a standstill! Saturday's match was also postponed. One reason being that our opponents, fresh from the mauling they gave us last week, couldn't raise a team and the second was down to the waterlogged state of the pitch.

Half-Term

It seems like only a a few weeks ago that the kids were enjoying their Christmas break, but no, it definitely is already half-term.

Only seven show up for training, so we couldn't do too much work with the ball, but those that were there will get their reward on Saturday as they will all start in our game against Chesterton Villa. Time will tell if our last match result was just a blip or not!

Up the Villa!

OK so we lost 3-0. However there was a lot to be pleased about with this performance. With a bit more luck in front of goal we could easily have got something out of this match. Having said that both goalkeepers on show had very good matches.

At half-time we were 1-0 down and while we worked out how we could get back into the game Kate, our captain, suggested a 4-4-2 formation, she quickly realised though that we only actually play 8 at any one time on the pitch in mini-league football and corrected herself.

Next week sees us play Comberton Crusaders, we drew with this team earlier in the season, so I predict another close game.

Training as usual on Thursday 6pm at the Village College.
